Cultural Propaganda

For the last few months we have been engaged in cultural propaganda. Our current society is what allows for cultural propaganda to be spewed by anyone who can type or even simply post a link on their social networking page. This cultural propaganda, even though some may considered it accurate, is becoming more destructive compared to being beneficial for our society as a whole.

Terms like racist, race-baiter, and words that can be used in different contexts have been turned into talking points. Talking points that are false and misleading. The use of a word is not the issue. The true issue is the cultural propaganda that is tossed like pamphlets from a drone when the sun rises. The cultural propaganda is not just about race, but gender, social class, religious views, and political stance.

It is important for the public to understand the rhetorical devices that are being used that allow cultural propaganda and corporate agendas that have been developed and deployed by those in power.

Young Black Americans are forced to see images of themselves on television and the internet in a way that is not positive. But this is no different for White Americans. Recent television programing is not created to challenge our thoughts- But rather reinforce our thoughts.

As we engage in cultural propaganda and support drilling, or oppose drilling, believe racism is real, or believe that it is fake we are engaged in cultural propaganda. Their agenda. An agenda that leads to more hate and separation than is healthy for a society that is supposed to be about freedom. That freedom is being crushed, stolen, and only for the elite.

Cultural propaganda has allowed for critical thinking to become something that is almost obsolete- like common sense. While we debate if sexting is real, or is global warming real, we fail to realize that we are being destroyed. We obey the lies, we follow the trends, we are told how we should act, how we should talk, and who we should worship with.

Cultural propaganda has allowed for poor people to believe that they are Republicans, and poor people to believe that Democrats want to change their lot in life. But these false assumptions and false allegiances have destroyed the fabric of our cultural.  

Another example of this in when those that do not belong, support, or understand said community believe that they can make assumptions about that community. They find views and positions that fit their already forced fed moral fabric that has either been engrained by family or often shaped by lack of experience.

Men deciding what is right for women, whites deciding what is right for blacks, and a government telling us what freedom is and how much freedom or privacy we should have are all elements of this cultural war.

This cultural war includes, incomes, race, beliefs and other interest. It would not be surprising if those that look at our current society in the future may equate our society to those that believed in human sacrifice. For what is a war? Nothing more than human sacrifices for beliefs structures that truly should not exist. We ship our children off to war, in some cases these children just want a source of income to provide for their family, or receive funds to attend college. There are some that follow family traditions.

Our recent wars cannot and should not be compared to the Civil War, World War I, and World War II. But they should be viewed as wars for resources and influence. A cultural war supported by cultural propaganda.

While our government conducts these wars for resources and control, they also conduct in the destruction of our freedom and liberties. These liberties are often intertwined and accompanied by cultural agendas with no regard to the influence that they will have on those that stand on the other side of the issue, or demand change or simply attention in order for change.

Of course there are those that will support the State, and believe whatever the State tells them. They will argue that the intellectual is being indoctrinated into a liberal way of thinking, or that their value structure is the only structure that should remain on this soil.

We cannot compare the democrats or republicans of today of those in the past. We cannot assume that the white culture or the black culture can be encompassed into one way of thinking. But should keep in mind that statistics are skewed to fit an agenda. Statistics are often the most damaging cultural agenda that is produced by man. They do not include all of the factors, but break the human experience down into mere numbers. Numbers can never explain the human experience, but only support the cultural propaganda.

There will be some that discredit this concept, or this frame of mind. But the cultural propaganda is here. It has been put in place by our government, the corporations, and our moral beliefs that are often illegitimate and hypocritical. 

Try to escape the cultural propaganda, the denial of freedom, and understand that no matter what, we are born with a set of rights. A right to be free as long as our actions do not cause harm to others. Our thoughts are starting to become crimes, our conversations and emails stored, whistle blowers are evil doers, and the cultural propaganda is blowing across our land.

Let us revolt with our minds, and buying power. Let us seek true knowledge and true understanding in order to make a change. Violence in some cases has been necessary but violence is not the key to the type of revolution that is needed. Freedom cannot become a reality if we are engaged in a political and cultural war of propaganda.       

  

Of course we have made strides towards some sort of imaginary equality, but we except this imaginary equality and allow for the cultural propaganda to feed into our thoughts and actions or inaction.  Obey at your own demise.      

Freedom

So, we use the word free, but often forget the meaning. This country was never built off FREEDOM but rather manipulation. Minorities and women have been denied FREEDOM since the inception of this Nation. The United States of America was not conceived by a white man. But rather suggested by a Native American.  A Native American realized that a land full of colonies would not be successful. This concept was due to the many different tribes and differences in beliefs and traditions between the many different Native American tribes. 

These differences in beliefs seem to be playing out in our society now. There are some that want to legalize pot, support gay marriage, and eliminate Unions. While some demand that they keep their assault rifles and extended clips, and in the same breath deny others the opportunity to marry, fail to realize the hypocrisy in their statements or must believe that their FREEDOM is more important than others.

The biggest concern for all Americans should be FREEDOM. In order for our country to rise we cannot hold on to the old principles of our country. The old principles lead to burning witches, holding back women and minorities, and the word FREEDOM morphing into slight control of ones desires. Personally I believe that a person should be able to conduct any activity that has no detrimental effect on another person physically.

One should be free to love whom they want. One should be able to fill their bodies with want they want without fear of facing prison. If we live in a country that claims to be free yet has the highest amount of individuals confined behind bars- we should change our tag line to “the land of those that can't define FREEDOM”.

Of course true FREEDOM cannot be achieved in our society.  Our society has been so divided and mislead by the media that we often do not do our own research as individuals. We do not look for credible references, but follow the slanted media and their corporate sponsors to tell us what FREEDOM is, or is not.

The Patriot Act, Drones, monitoring of internet activities, and individuals giving up all of their personal thoughts on social media are all forms of control and eliminate FREEDOM. Maybe that is what we should change our tag line to-The United States of Limitations and Separation.

Our children are not given the FREEDOM to learn, but rather programmed to think the way that some individuals see fit. If the Black Panthers stood on the lawn of the Capital today would there be thousands of hunters standing with them? They didn't then and I would think they would not do it today.

I see FREEDOM, the FREEDOM for you to wave your Confederate Flag, The FREEDOM for you to tell me that your religion is better than my spirituality, the FREEDOM of corporations destroying our land and selling our resources at triple the value, the FREEDOM for you language to overtake mine, the FREEDOM for elected officials to lie and place blame on us, the FREEDOM for you to steal from my culture, but deny me the opportunity to enjoy theirs.

So when you look at the Stars and Stripes and hear those words the home of the brave, remember that being brave demands action. In order to be free we have to do what is right, not what is wrong. 

My Block

My block is slightly curved, because all of the cul-de-sacs were taken. But my block is the new America. 

To my left is a Latino family that cooks the best carne asada that I have ever tasted. 

Next door to them is a white family that home-school their children. They run up and down the street in their bare-feet tossing rocks at one another. 

On my right is a family from Fiji that has trained me to love the smell of curry.  Their son calls me “Uncle”- even when we aren't on our block.  

Directly across the street is another Latino family that has a gardener do their lawn twice a month. 

On my block, there is an old Asian man that, in the early morning hours, steals Recyclables.  But he always smiles and waves. I reply with a wave as he pedals away on his ten-speed. 

My block has a black family on the end of the street that park their car so close to the stop sign you have to drive out extra far and stop twice before venturing out into the world. 

My block is filled with basketball hoops, mini-vans, Mercedes and BMW's- of course, none of them are mine. On my block, we all wave- because I wave… and eventually, people wave back. 

On my block, there are a few stray cats- but I have never seen a rat- on my block. 

My bock is filled with life and happiness, but sometimes sadness plays a visit as a member of our block loses a relative. 

My block is filled with immigrants, natives, and soldiers who fought for our block.

Our block is the new America, the way that it should be. Filled with every race, gender, religion, and age living together. 

My block is filled with commuters heading to the train and parents taking kids to school. We leave together and return together- a synchronized dance of movement with beauty and grace, and of course, the occasional honk of impatience.   

My block should be every block!

Black Visibility is not Black Power

I thought that I would never see an African American President, or rather, a half African American President- unless I support the notion that one drop of black blood makes and individual black. (I would have to disagree with that old law even though there are many that still believe that way.)  But our culture is connected to more than our race, and even though there are more black people visible in all areas of our lives- politics, entertainment, sports, and the field of academia- the problems of the black community are often swept under the welcome rug and become nothing more than talking points.

Even stories of victories in the African American community are not celebrated like those in other communities. These stories do not get the same attention and still have to battle for the limelight against stories of celebrity divorces and shopping sprees of the rich. 

Did I fall victim to the deception that black visibility is black power? Of course I did. Who could not fall victim to such a theory. Many of us have fell victim to this theory, and it is easy to understand how and why. We have faith in our country; some of us believe in our country more than others. But the individuals that research and investigate the actions and laws of this country understand who has the power.

So, after all of the cheers and happiness that was expressed after the election of the first African American President, the theory of black visibility vs. black power had the opportunity to be readdressed.  Just because there is a black president, does not mean there is an automatic connection between that president and the black community.

When I speak with my friends, we often believe that the issue of racism has only increased. The pride of having an African American President simply vanished for some. I still have pride and hope however, because I understand that the steps needed to fix some of the social injustices and racism that has plagued our country will take another 200 years or so be realized. President Obama’s victory was a small victory in the struggle for all minorities.

The ultimate power has been in the hands of the establishment, not the president. Even though the establishment has many individuals, many of them have succumbed to the idea that their personal interests outweigh those of the people that elected them.   

These individuals include artists, politicians, athletes, and many others. I believe that President Obama has a responsibility to the African American community. His appearance was nothing more than a tool to trick us into supporting him. Just because he can bounce a basketball, and is probably better at it than me, does not mean that he understands the struggle of African Americans.

Let us look at his actions. He is a very smart and wise man, he has passed a few laws that could be seen as keeping us African Americans at bay. For example when he lowered the penalty for those that are guilty of selling crack compared to the penalties of selling cocaine. This is great- and he should be applauded. But let us look at another focus of his energy- where he is choosing to visit.  I have seen him in Silicon Valley, Hollywood, and many other affluent neighborhoods, but I have not seen him in the Bay View, or Compton.

But when I walk through some very economically depressed African American communities, I see the people wearing his t-shirt, or pasting his poster on the wall. But the sadness is still on their faces, and the violence still consumes their community. Why? Because that is what the system needs to keep control of the society and that is what the system wants. They want a society that allows for the rich to remain rich, the middle class to support both the poor and the rich, and the poor to remain a tool for division.

While I hold dear my conservative values, there is no need to continue to be ignorant and believe that one man of color can change a community. Or that one man of color has destroyed the country that I believed in. The responsibility remains in the hands of the people.

We the people, even though my race was only considered ¾ of a man, and did not start off with the same opportunities as the citizens around me. When individuals use the Bible and the Constitution as tools to define them, to develop their political and ethical positions, they are already flawed. They are flawed because those specific documents are flawed.  They are flawed because they were created by men, men that are flawed by nature.

These two pieces of literature are often used to define all reasoning, but they were not built for me, ¾ of a man. Even though now I can live a life that others could only dream about hundreds of years ago, I have a responsibility to inform and educate my generation and those that are willing to accept that a change is needed. No longer can I depend on the black face and the deception of black visibility as change. But nothing more than false hopes that were destroyed by the powers that be, to keep their knee on the throat of those that do not stand a chance.

So before we make a decision on who we want in office, step aside and remember that black visibility is not black power.  It will not erase the suffering.  We have to evaluate the destruction that corporate America has placed on the poor communities both white and black.

Do not let us vote because of what our minsters believe, or what our parents have forced fed us to believe, but rather vote in a way that will allow for opportunity for all- no matter whom they love, or who they want to spend the rest of their lives with. To deny others freedom is simply being a tyrant. One person’s happiness should not be blocked because of a few ignorant individuals. But also, it is important to understand that for the black community, black visibility is not power.  If those in power continue to only support others that share the same rhetoric, there will never be true equality.

Sherrod and the Scam of Destruction

The battle of race will always continue to be a horrendous fight in this country. No matter how much we try to say that it will be eradicated or disappear the wounds only seem to become deeper and often infected. There are so many organizations that act is if the want to help deal with the issue but only drop the ball and become worse than the enemy they are supposed to be fighting.

These organizations know that their behaviors should not be included in their tactics to support their agenda. An organization that is moving towards equality should understand that equality can not be created by a board of directors or executives. Equality can only be developed by those that depend on grass root philosophies. Organizations that are dependent on any sort of hierarchy defeat the purpose of equality. The movement towards equality should be fluent and smooth. An increase in violence and tension should be expected. These threats can easily be identified and should be prepared for in advance.

Equality is something that can not be reached in a country that was dependent on violence, control of media, and mind manipulation to move their agenda forward. The past few weeks have been racially motivated to a level that I have not witnessed since the Rodney King situation in the 90’s. But instead of a riot in the streets, the media has thrown rocks and have hijacked the minds of the people. Equality is false, like the word Freedom. No matter how hard these organizations try to denounce their racist agenda they often stumble over their own words.

The Tea Party has final been put in the spotlight and are being shown for what they are, racist old white people. Now that an African American is the face of the country even though his strings are still being pulled by the economic elitist of the world the real issues are still being avoided. White Americans have an approval rating of 37% on Obama as a president, now this is according to CNN. This number is considerably higher than I thought but only supports my thesis that a solution to fixing racism in America is impossible.

The NAACP used their power to get the leader of the Tea Party fired. After the NAACP forced the leader of the Tea Party out they decided that it was their turn to fire back at the NAACP and did. Even though this move can be considered as an epic fail, it still shows the power that whites have in America. Sherrod was forced to step down and the NAACP did not even want to jeopardize their name and support Sherrod at all. If it was not for the white farmer that received help from Sherrod she may be in the unemployment line next Monday morning.

The NAACP is a joke, they remind me of a group of house Negroes that want to dress up and play master. They have not helped move the black agenda forward at all. They would rather protect their name instead of investigating the facts. Sherrod speech was presented in front of them. The Tea Party blogger attacked the wrong person Sherrod did not even work for the NAACP; she was just speaking to them. Epic fail Mr. Blogger attack the NAACP not a woman that is presenting a speech and expressing how she overcame racism to help someone. This is like locking up a black man for jaywalking because he was helping an old white women walking down the street and the light became red.

Conservative or not I can not allow for racist organizations to represent me and my views. See I am smarter than the house Negro that continues to vote for the democrats because I think that they want to help me out. If I reach the mountain tops there is no reason for me to hand out money to those that do not want to change. If blacks would rather buy a pair of Jordan’s and some FUBU pants instead of adding that money to rent then that is their fault for being stuck in the projects and the same for those white folks in trailers across America.

Race will always be a factor in America, equality will never happen. Women make less then men, whites make more than blacks, Asian do not even seem as if they have a voice but continue to wash our clothes, prepare donuts, and fill college campuses across the country, Gay’s and Lesbians will always be denied the chance to love each other, and illegal-aliens are the new slaves. If it is not race it will be class, there is always going to be something that separates the people from each other.

The words “We The People” is a very important line that often seems to be forgotten. It is not just about a particular sub-culture or group of people here in America. It is about all of us working together and living together. But as long as we have these idiots in control they will continue to divide and separate us. No matter if a person is on the left or the right common sense should one day kick in and play a role in decision making. So to the groups that are only interested in helping people dependent on race: let Goldman and Sacks run your books for a while and may you have a speedy downfall, so the real Patriots can help this country (and that is not you tea-baggers). Do not tread on me haters.

Welcome to Winters Writes- Buckle up and get ready for the ride of your life! You will be exposed to the thoughts of a black conservative that is not scared to talk about the hard issues, and take on racism head first. I will take you on a journey through politics, education, the hood, the drug war, and anything else that I feel you should be informed about. There is always something to write about and this is not a FOX news approach. We live in a time that everyone is able to voice their opinions and present their agenda to the people. I have an agenda, and it is rather simple: Wake people the fuck up!

My grandmother would have disapproved of that sort of language but I think that it is necessary and the shock value probably almost made you spit out your coffee. Don't worry, you have enough time to catch your breath and wipe off the coffee, but be careful to not smear the screen because the next few lines are rather important.

So I am a black conservative, that is married to a white woman, and raising two kids in the middle of Texas. I am a product of the dream that Martin Luther King Jr. was preaching about. The world that I live in is one that is different from the so-called “black experience”. I understand the issues inside the inner-city and how both blacks and whites play a role in the development of many issues that plague our country.

The Tea Party, The New Black Panthers, Conservatives, Liberals, Socialist, The Klan, media, athletes, corporations, you are all on my list of pawns that play a role to keep the people separated. America has the opportunity to become a leader in the world. The economic collapse was a wake up call for the people of America to understand that our current government is a failure. The people have lost control like a Toyota with a stuck gas pedal. Bang straight into the wall of bullshit, lies and, propaganda. While others know the truth and have decided to wake up and smell the manure that has been running rampant through the walls of the government that has been forced fed pork rinds from lobbyists. Some are still plugged into the Matrix and Neo is never showing up. I will try and be your Neo, black leather not included (it is a little restricting when trying to type on my laptop).
